Ilke Tilders

llke is FOS’s representative in Europe and currently resides in Holland. She works with European partners to apply an adaptive management approach to conservation throughout the Ilke Tilders -FOS (Europe) 2016continent. Since joining FOS in 2007, Ilke has focused on participatory and integrated management of marine and coastal protected areas in Sweden, Norway, Finland,Greece and in the Wadden Sea in The Netherlands. This year, Ilke is working closely with the MAVA Foundation and its partners to pilot adaptive management across a portfolio of larger programs in the Alps, the Mediterranean, and the west coast of Africa.

She is the franchise leader of the European Conservation Coaches Network – a community of practice committed to solid conservation management. In all, Ilke has more than a decade of experience in strategic planning, evaluation, project management, and fundraising for conservation programs around the world, particularly in Europe, Asia, and Africa. From 1998 to 2000, she coordinated the strategic planning, evaluation and fundraising efforts of WWF’s nature conservation projects in Malaysia. From 2000 to 2007, Ilke consulted with non-profit organizations to improve their strategies, business planning, and project effectiveness. Ilke has an M.Sc. in environmental management from the University of London and a B.B.A. from the Hotelschool – The Hague
